Founded during the 1800’s, the University of Chicago in Illinois was first seen and managed by (ABES) or the American Baptist Education Society oil magnate named as John D. Rockefeller, a popular millionaire in oil industry back in the 1800’s. Rockefeller was later on made popular by the saying, “who do you think I am, Rockefeller”. The exact year that it was founded is in 1890. The University of Chicago was actually an investment by him which he later on told other people he met that this was actually his best and most important investment.
The first university president was named William Rainey Harper who is an undergraduate liberal arts college. A certain event in the history of the founding of University of Chicago made an important episode in the American history of higher education said by Frederick Rudolph, a professor of history that time. Although the Chicago University was established by a famous Baptist, none the less made it a center of Baptist studies nor students because they allow equal student population in equal proportions in it. Even if during those times, most universities do not admit minority students, the University of Chicago allowed them and welcomed all including aspiring women.
The architecture of the buildings primarily displays the early style of English Gothic structure and as early as 1910, the University had adopted more popular school traditions with its logo and structures. It then included some figures like a phoenix in flames with motto written in Latin and reading Crescat Scientia, Vita Excolatur which means (“Let knowledge increase so that life may be enriched)”
I bet during those days, the people have difficult times of moving their home things, appliances and stuff as compared today where Chicago movers companies are having a good time taking service offers left to right from people who are either moving in or out to another place more popular like Chicago, Illinois. This probably would have played a big role for many students looking for a slot in the Chicago University enrollment lists. Thank god it doesn’t have to be that way again today as it is ever easier now to get services from movers, Chicago area wise and this made everything in the moving services that are popular for families in Chicago today.
