From Rubbles to Great Chicago Architecture

1871 started it all for Chicago architecture and because the Great Chicago Fire nearly demolished all existing structures in Chicago and left almost nothing from the rubbles, people almost thought that they will never recover. Far beyond the Chicagoans knowledge, the outcome of the Great Chicago Fire led to the era of construction of even bigger structures as they would sprout like mushrooms.

Chicago Architects and Chicago Architecture Boom

This is the time where some of the largest building architectures started to boom in Chicago and became a significant time to remember for the people of Chicago. This is the year where it all started and this is to become yet another important part in the history of the nation and the state of Chicago. One of the most outstanding things that happened from the coming events was the relocation of many of the nation’s most prominent architects to the city from New England for construction of the 1893 World Columbian Exposition. The said architects were said to have designed other well known landmarks in the Chicago architecture since, because of the Exposition. Some of the best Chicago architecture authors were Burnham, Root, Adler and Sullivan.

Skyscraper in Chicago - The First Steel-framed High-rise Building

It was way back in 1885 when the popular Chicago architects discovered and put to use, the first steel frame with the construction of the first high-rise building that gave birth in the era of the Chicago skyscraper, a pride of Chicago architecture. This part of Chicago history made the state a popular icon today becoming one of the states in the world where Chicago’s skyline is among the world’s tallest. Chicago downtown speaks of its many great skyscraper structures and historic buildings which include the Chicago Board of Trade Building. The Merchandise Mart which, according to records was once first on the list of the largest buildings in the world is also currently listed sixth. Another of its kind is the historical Sears Tower, which is also the tallest in the country. There were many other great Chicago architectures contained in Chicago and that includes high-rise residential towers and industrial buildings which also contributed to the pride of Chicago as a City of skyscraper structures.

There were many other significant events that led to the recognition of Chicago as one of the leading states in the world to have the best and the greatest structures pertaining to Chicago architecture.
